Even came out into the limelight when they won the Red Horse Muziklaban Challenge in 2008. But to many music fans, the band is quickly stepping out from their band competition shadow and becoming a powerful force on their own. Releasing their self-titled EP, Even is the featured artist of the month plus, we scored a short interview with Even guitarist Jam Bumanlag. Check it out!

Pulp: So tell us about your release, what's the title?

Jam Bumanlag: it's actually a self titled EP, 6 tracks plus one bonus acoustic version of the song Red & Green (which is currently on the playlist of NU107)

Jam: musically our songs are really oddly timed, dark and melancholic, lyricwise (Dyanne/vocalist) writes in (in my opinion) in an unconventional way, some songs are about self-truth (ADAM), the "will-be" single "OBRA" is about tattoos/breaking away from the norm.

Jam: estimate ko cguro in 3 weeks or less, kasama na mixing and mastering which we (even) were really involved. The drums wererecorded at The Shop, Baguio City then all other tracks in Amerasian Studios of Viva. We (even) actually co-produced the album.

Jam: hmmmmn...the song "OBRA" will be the carrier single, it is our very first tagalog/all filipino lyric song. We have also finished shooting for the music video! directed by ser Lee NAdela (of Slapshock) with Karl Roy (of POT/Kapatid) as the main guest artist/model in the video! watch out for that soon!

Jam: Loud music that is hard to describe, but not at all hard to fathom. Deep and well thought yet truthful lyrics woven into heavy chugs and bass, unisoned into drumlines layered with audio samples & lots of effects!
